North Jersey Rowing rows on clean, calm waters amidst the natural beauty of the Ramapo Mountains. Hosted by Highlands Rowing Center, the pristine waters of the Monksville Reservoir are quickly accessible from major arteries within twenty-five minutes or less from Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties. A large parking lot and restroom facilities adjoin the docking area.

From Bergen County
Take Route 208 North to Interstate 287 South briefly to exit 57 Skyland Drive/Ringwood. Follow the drive up and done the mountain, coming to a stop sign at Erskine Drive. Go straight. Shortly you will come to a fork in the road in front of the Wanaque Reservoir, turn right here onto Route 511, known as Greenwood Lake Turnpike, in the direction of West Milford and Sloatsburg. Continue on this road, following the coastline of the Wanaque. As the elevation increases, you’ll pass Stonetown Rd. on your left, along with the Monksville dam. A sign marked Monksville Reservoir, South Ramp is on your left. Take that left and enter the parking lot. The launching dock is visible; our equipment is sheltered atop the hill, just follow the path from the entranceway. Approximately 20 minutes from Ridgewood.
From points in northeast Bergen County and vicinity
Take the Route 17 North /87 North merge to Sloatsburg Road exit. At the light, make a left onto 17 North. Continue to travel until you see the Davis Sport Shop. This right turns into Sloatsburg Road. Pass the Ringwood Manor until you see a baseball field. Make a right onto Margaret King Blvd. and take to the stop sign. Make a left onto county road 511, known as Greenwood Lake A sign marked Monksville Reservoir, South Ramp is on your left. Take that left and enter the parking lot. The launching dock is visible; our equipment is sheltered atop the hill, just follow the path from the entranceway. Turnpike. Proceed pass small shopping plaza and go down the hill where an inn is on your right. A sign marked Monksville Reservoir, South Ramp is on your right. Take that right and enter the parking lot. From Passaic County south of 287
Take Interstate 287 North to exit at Route 511 known as Greenwood Lake Turnpike towards Ringwood and Haskell. Continue on this county road towards West Milford and Sloatsburg. You will pass Skyline Drive on your right. Continue on 511, following the coastline of the Wanaque. As the elevation increases, you’ll pass Stonetown Rd. on your left, along with the Monksville dam.
Note: For scheduled classes that encounter weather conditions not suitable for rowing, we will hold erging sessions at a local fitness center in the town of Ringwood.
Our location is located in forest area so please be prepared to wear socks and rugged shoes. Ticks are prevalent so a repellant is advised.
