Rowing Coach
North Jersey Rowing is looking for a Rowing Coach position for Bergen and Passaic counties in NJ.
North Jersey Rowing is a private company with a mission to open up recreational and competitive rowing to as many people as possible. North Jersey Rowing provides educational instruction and coaching services, both sculling and sweeping, for the sport of rowing to men and women of all ages, from 12 year olds through adult. North Jersey Rowing provides all equipment --shells, oars – and the highest level of instruction for anyone to learn the sport and to continue in it for recreation or for competitive racing. We are on the water from April through November, subject to weather conditions. In the winter we offer specialized winter training and instructional coaching on indoor rowing machines called ergs.
Responsibilities
• Develop seasonal training programs
• Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions
• Instruct athletes in rowing rules, game strategies, and performance principles
• Explain and demonstrate the use of sports and training equipment, such as trampolines or weights.
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations.
• Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of athletes and adjust coaching techniques accordingly
• Keep records of athlete performance and evolution
• Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation for the athletes
• Develop and arrange rowing regatta schedules and programs.
• Plan strategies and choose team members to participate in rowing regattas
• Select, acquire, store, and issue equipment and other materials as necessary
• Manage the equipment, boats and docks
To qualify for this position all candidates will meet the following requirements:
• Minimum master degree plus 1yr experience or Bachelor plus 5 yrs experience preferable in Physical Education and Sports.
• Rowing specialization or certification
• Rowing coaching and managing experience
• Competitive experience, national and international
• CPR and First Aid and NJ boating license
